The six hours that make you a driver, not just a licence holder

Passing your test proves you can drive safely on a set of local roads on one particular morning. Pass Plus covers the six situations that the test can’t — and many insurers reduce a new driver’s first-year premium once you’ve completed it.

The six modules

What the course actually covers

No test at the end — it’s continuous assessment across six modules, delivered over a minimum of six hours on the road.

1. Town driving

Busy junctions, one-way systems, complex traffic in Newton Abbot and Exeter.

2. All-weather driving

Rain, spray, low sun and reduced grip — and how stopping distances change.

3. Out of town & rural roads

Devon lanes, blind bends, tractors, and reading a road you can’t see round.

4. Night driving

Judging speed and distance in the dark, dazzle, and using your lights properly.

5. Dual carriageways

The A38 and A380 — joining, lane discipline and safe separation at speed.

6. Motorways

The M5 done properly, with an instructor beside you rather than alone on day one.
